Vintage

Okay so for a while now I have had an obsession with intricate vintage (old) furniture. My obsession doesn't stop there.. I have found that I really love vintage baby clothes. There is a shop near our house called "Room With A Past" that I have now (All thanks to my dear friend Fenima) become obsessed with. They sell furniture, dishes, baby clothes etc. all vintage or v inspired. Love love love. I am re-doing chloe's nursery into a little girl room and I am decorating it in all vintage inspired/ shabby chic. I am SO excited!!

 I transformed this neato ottoman to go in her room.

bought this cool intricate mirror that was a bronze color and spray painted it white.

These are a couple of vintage baby clothes I bought. The lady who sold these to me said she stored them in her hope chest and never used them. They are from the 60's and I think they are beautiful!

 
This white linen top is my favorite! It still has it's tags on!

I am going to put Chloe in this blue top tonight to go out to get Frozen yogurt with the youth in our church. I will pair it with some blue Janie and Jack shoes she has :)

We took you to the park to play in the sand and get dirty thus the play clothes. Someone gave us this onsie it says "shop till you nap - Nordstroms" Oh how I hate shirts with words or characters on them, and that is why you are in these clothes.. so you can ruin them and I won't care :) Oh and ps I love your belly in this picture!

You have always loved the swing

And the sand.. You love to get dirty, and to eat sand, dirt, mud, sticks..

And to climb.. Last week at daycare (the gym) My class ended and I came back to get you and the girls were telling me how much you make them laugh and that you love to climb on things, and even on kids to get to what you want.

Here you are swinging, with a stick you found in the sand, that you wouldn't let go of.

Your daddy took this picture of you after your long day of playing. He thought you looked cute, and wanted you to see how naughty you can be when food is involved.

Summer Projects

I found these Adirondack chairs at a garage sale and paid 7 dollars for both. I sanded them and Adam painted them. We wanted something besides the camp chairs we have to sit outside and watch Chloe play in the pool. Here is the before and after pics together.

I also found this raw wood coffee table that opens on top for storage.. and believe me we could use the extra storage space. Our house is getting smaller and smaller I swear! So adam sanded and stained them to match and bought giant clavos to add to the piece. Kinda like the ones on the raw tables at restoration Hardware.  So we sold all of our Ikea furniture in our living room and moved them on in. They are very masculine peices, and not exactly my style, but Adam loves them and is happy with them, so we will keep them for now..

I don't have a before of the entertainment center but it was the same color the coffee table was.

I aso painted this sewing table in a cream color and distressed it a little. I like the way it came out. I have been needing a table for my sewing machine and I like the little details of this piece.

We got rid of our Scandinavian designs night stands and I bought these pretty babes. I have a thing with blues right now (tiffany blue, grey blue.. I just love it) So I painted it and distressed it and now they look like..

Yeast Rolls

 I love the yummy sweet yeasty rolls that they make at golden corral. So I looked on the internet and found this recipe for the rolls http://www.tipsfromatypicalmom.com/2009/11/just-like-golden-corral-dinner-rolls.html.. not exactly the same but it hit the spot. If anyone has a good recipe for rolls let me know!

14 months

Since I started blogging I don't write in your baby journal as much, so I really should keep my update posts up so I have things documented.. I'll do better..

I just can't believe how you've grown little lady. These days you are all over the place. You had only two teeth for six months and now you poped out four new ones! You are quick and very curious these days. You love to draw, read with daddy. you recently learned to drink from a straw, and give kisses.  

 Your hair just started growing.. finally!

 You LOVE the phone and always want it when i am on a call. You put it up to your little ear and wait to hear something.

 You are on a sweet kick lately and won't eat anything that is green. That won't work for me, so I will find ways my dear...

You are getting sooo big, but you are still not walking. Soon I believe. Dont rush take your time.. Please? I love you VERY much and enjoy you so. Xoxo

Good bones

Picked up this rocker/glider and ottoman @ an Estate sale on Friday. I thought it had "good bones". It isn't a matching set, but after I got my hands on it you wouldn't know it.

 I sanded, painted, sewed and tufted and now I love it! :)

I'm thinking of making a throw pillow to go with it.

I should have snapped down the tabs on the back pillow oh well you get the idea.

Chloë loves to climb on things, especially when she knows she's not supposed to. I am unloading the dish washer when I hear a knock at my door. I go to open it and come back to find this...

Rodeo beach and the kid with horns

Last week my sister and step mom came into town for a visit. We took them to a 24th of July BBQ and to Rodeo Beach (in Marin).

This kid won't touch grass so I thought she would freak in the sand, but she LOVED it!

Chloë and I took a quick trip to Walmart, and as we were standing in line a lady behind us says "When I first looked at your daughter I thought she had horns. Then I realized you had her in pigtails. She really doesn't have enough hair for that"  :(   I didn't like her 2 cents. This was the first day I had ever done her hair like that. I thought she looked cute, but I guess she looked like she had horns..

Homemade Cinnabon Recipe

You know that mouth watering cinnamon Cinnabon smell that fills the air of the mall? Anytime I walk by the Cinnabon store I want to get one! I am happy to say that my house has that smell.This is my version of "Cinnabon" cinnamon rolls. So good! They really do turn out like the "real" ones! Here it is!

Ingredients

• 1 cup warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
• 2 eggs, room temperature
• 1/3 cup butter, melted
• 4 1/2 cups bread flour ( I've used all purpose too and it come out great)
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
• 1 cup brown sugar, packed
• 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
• 1/2 cup butter, mostly melted but not too warm (add all together to create filling)
• 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened ( I like more like 4-5 oz so it's not too sweet)
• 1/4 cup butter, softened
• 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

1. Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle; press Start.
2. After the dough has doubled in size turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, cover and let rest for 10 minutes. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
3. Roll dough into a 16x21 inch rectangle. Spread dough with the 1/3-1/2 cup butter and sugar/cinnamon mixture. Roll up dough and cut into 12 rolls with floss. Place rolls in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375-400 degrees. Depending on how hot your oven gets.
4. Bake rolls in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes. While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Spread frosting on warm rolls before serving.
5. Always eat them warm!!
